Tony Award winner Annaleigh Ashford and Broadway alum Vanessa Hudgens have signed on to appear in the upcoming romantic comedy Second Act. The two join Jennifer Lopez and Leah Remini in the Peter Segal-helmed project, according to Deadline.
The movie, from STXfilms, follows a supercenter employee (Lopez) who gets the chance at a fresh start on Madison Avenue. Filming is scheduled to begin in October in New York.
Ashford appeared on the New York stage earlier this year opposite Jake Gyllenhaal in Sunday in the Park with George, as well as the Public Theater’s Shakespeare in the Park presentation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. A Tony winner for You Can’t Take It With You, Ashford is also set to appear on screen in Brie Larson’s Unicorn Store and alongside Darren Criss in the second installment of Ryan Murphy’s American Crime Story series, The Assassination of Gianni Versace.
Hudgens, known for her performance as Gabriella Montez in High School Musical, made her Broadway debut in 2015 in Gigi. Her additional credits include Betty Rizzo in Fox's Grease: Live and Mimi in the Hollywood Bowl presentation of Rent.
