Andrew Lloyd Webber has penned a new song for the film version of his international hit musical Cats, Daily Mail columnist Baz Bamigboye reports on Twitter.

No title has been announced for the song, which will be sung by the kitten Victoria.

Composer Lloyd Webber said that although the film has not been officially green lit by Working Title, casting is underway.

As previously reported, Les Misérables filmmaker Tom Hooper, who won a directing Oscar for The King’s Speech, will direct and co-produce the big-screen adaptation of the long-running Lloyd Webber musical for Universal Pictures.

The production was previously filmed live onstage and released in 2000 starring Olivier winner Elaine Paige as Grizabella.

Based on T.S. Eliot's Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, the musical became an international phenomenon and has continuously toured the U.S. for 30 years in various union and non-union productions. In 1991 Cats, which produced the stand-out hit "Memory," became the longest-running continuous tour in U.S. history.

Cats opened on Broadway at the Winter Garden Theatre October 7, 1982, where it ran for 7,485 performances before closing September 10, 2000. It held the title of Broadway's longest-running musical, but was surpassed by Lloyd Webber's other hit, The Phantom of the Opera, which currently holds the title. Cats won seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, Best Lighting, Best Costumes, and Best Featured Actress (Betty Buckley).

A 2016 revival of the musical ended its run December 30, 2017, at the Neil Simon Theatre.
