American Horror Story star Jamie Brewer, Debra Monk, and Mark Blum star in the Roundabout Theatre Company production.

Roundabout Theatre Company celebrates the official opening of Amy and the Orphans March 1. The new play by Ugly Lies the Bone playwright Lindsey Ferrentino stars American Horror Story' s Jamie Brewer as a woman with Down Syndrome who is reunited with her siblings on a road trip.

Tony nominee Scott Ellis directs a cast completed by Tony winner Debra Monk (Redwood Curtain, Steel Pier), Mark Blum (The Assembled Parties), Vanessa Aspillaga, Diane Davis, and Josh McDermitt. Edward Barbanell is the understudy.

Performances are in the Laura Pels Theatre in the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre Off-Broadway. Previews began February 1.

In Amy and the Orphans, three siblings go on the trip of a lifetime. After their father’s death, Maggie and Jacob reunite with Amy, their movie-loving sister who has Down Syndrome. Together, they careen down the Great American Long Island Expressway, navigating strip malls, traffic jams, and family drama.

The production features sets by Rachel Hauck, costumes by Alejo Vietti, lighting design by Kenneth Posner, and sound design and original music by John Gromada.
