Almeida Theatre's revival of Tennessee Williams’ Summer and Smoke will transfer to the Duke of York's Theatre in the West End for a limited engagement beginning in the fall. The full cast from the Rebecca Frecknall-helmed production will reprise their roles.

Summer and Smoke played at the Almeida Theatre beginning in February this year. The West End run will begin November 10 and continue through January 19, 2019.

Set in turn-of-the-century Mississippi, Summer and Smoke tells the story of a local minister’s daughter, played by Patsy Ferran, and her relationship with the neighborhood doctor who grew up next door, played by Matthew Needham.

The cast also included Seb Carrington, Nancy Crane, Eric MacLennan, Forbes Masson, , Tok Stephen, and Anjana Vasan.

The production is designed by Tom Scutt, with lighting by Lee Curran, composition by Angus MacRae, sound by Carolyn Downing, and casting by Julia Horan.

Williams was awarded two Pulitzer Prizes, a Tony Award, three Drama Critic Circle Awards, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Summer and Smoke was first performed on Broadway in 1948 and premiered for the first time in the West End in 2006. The play was revived by Classic Stage Company Off-Broadway earlier this year.

The West End transfer of Summer and Smoke is produced by the Almeida and Sonia Friedman Productions.
