Stage and screen stars Alan Cumming and Ed Asner will have recurring roles in USA's drama anthology Briarpatch, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Based on Ross Thomas’ novel, the cable series stars Rosario Dawson as an investigator who returns to her Texas hometown after the murder of her sister. Tony winner Cumming (Cabaret, The Good Wife) has been cast as Clyde Brattle, an arms dealer under investigation by the Senate, with Emmy winner Asner (The Mary Tyler Moore Show) as the racist owner of the town’s newspaper, James Staghorne Sr.

Briarpatch is from series creator Sam Esmail (Mr. Robot, Homecoming) and writer Andy Greenwald. The cast also includes Kim Dickens, Jay R. Ferguson, Brian Geraghty, and Edi Gathegi.

An air date for the series has yet to be announced.
