After a multi-city pre-Broadway tryout, Ain't Too Proud—The Life and Times of The Temptations will return to the road—this time with Broadway accolades to boot.

The Tony Award–nominated musical will launch a national tour in July 2020, kicking off in Providence, Rhode Island, before going on to play over 50 cities (including a return engagement at Washington, D.C.'s Kennedy Center and a homecoming to the Temptations' hometown, Detroit).

A full itinerary will be announced at a later date.

The musical, charting the genesis and rise of the R&B group, opened at Broadway's Imperial Theatre earlier this year. It went on to earn 12 Tony nods, including Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical for Dominique Morisseau, Best Direction of a Musical for Des McAnuff, and Best Choreography for Sergio Trujillo.

“We have been so blown away by the reception for Ain’t Too Proud—not only on Broadway, but also from our pre-Broadway engagements—that we can’t wait to bring the show back to audiences across America,” said producers Ira Pittelman and Tom Hulce. “Feedback from cities we have already been to has been extraordinary.”
