Roundabout Theatre Company will welcome the return of composer-lyricist Adam Gwon (Ordinary Days) this fall for the world premiere of his new musical Scotland, PA. Adapted from Billy Morrissette's indie film of the same name (and William Shakespeare's Macbeth), the musical comedy tells the story of an ambitious—and bloody-thirsty—couple (the McBeths) running a burger joint in a sleepy Pennsylvania town.
In the show, a restaurant manager and his wife cook up a plan to super-size their lives. As the bodies start to fall, the couple finds out just how far they’ll go for a taste of the American dream.
Performances will begin September 14 in the Laura Pels Theatre Off-Broadway ahead of an October 15 opening.
Scotland, PA is Gwon’s Roundabout commission following the debut of Ordinary Days in the Underground theatre.
Ordinary Days music director Vadim Feichtner will return to Roundabout for the production, with a full creative team and casting to be announced at a later date.
