A Doll's House, Part 2, in which Ibsen's Nora returns home 25 years after slamming the door on her old married life, plays its final performance on Broadway September 24. The production had initially been extended through January 7, 2018, following its original 16-week engagement.
Follosing the final Sunday matinee,, the Lucas Hnath comedy will have played 30 previews and 173 regular performances at the Golden Theatre.
The Ibsen follow-up, directed by Sam Gold, opened April 27 starring Laurie Metcalf, Jayne Houdyshell, Chris Cooper, and Condola Rashad. All four performers were nominated for Tony Awards, with Metcalf winning Best Actress in a Play in June. The play itself was nominated for a total of eight Tonys—more than any other in the 2016–2017 season.
