The festival, which will return this summer for a 12th season, will feature six short plays by Robert O’Hara, Abby Rosebrock, Neil LaBute, Eric Lane, Claire Zajdel, and novelist Chris Bohjalian (Midwives, The Sandcastle Girls, and The Guest Room) making his playwriting debut.

In O’Hara's one-act Living Room, a white couple questions the nature of being "White People in a Living Room." The play, also directed by O'Hara, is part of the festival's Series A, which also includes Rosebrock's Kenny's Tavern, directed by Jess Chayes, and Bohjalian's Grounded, directed by Alexander Dinelaris.

Series B features LaBute's short play Sparring Partner, about a longtime flirtation between two co-workers, which comes to a head over the course of a lunchtime game; as well as Lane's play Ibis, directed by Terry Berliner, and Zajdel's The Plot, directed by James Rees.

Each series is presented as a separate evening in theatre, running in repertory at 59E59 Theaters. Summer Shorts is presented by Throughline Artists.
