Special Features 5 Things to Know Before You Go to Springsteen on Broadway Whether it’s your first time at a Broadway theatre or not, there are some special circumstances surrounding The Boss’ Broadway show.
Springsteen on Broadway at the Walter Kerr Theatre Marc J. Franklin

Back in August 2017, music icon Bruce Springsteen announced his limited engagement solo show would arrive on Broadway in the fall. Three months into the run, Springsteen on Broadway has wowed audiences and critics alike (making multiple Top Ten Theatre lists at the end of the year) and has extended at the Walter Kerr Theatre through June, meaning even more theatregoers will have a chance to see him in the intimate production.

For Springsteen fans who haven’t ever been to Broadway before (and for veteran theatregoers who need to be alerted to special procedures), here’s what you need to know before you attend Springsteen on Broadway:

TICKETS and GETTING IN
The ticketing for Springsteen on Broadway was one of the first to operate through Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan program. Be sure to double check the date and time on your tickets. The show also offers a digital ticket lottery. (Read the details here.) Children ages 5 and up are permitted in the theatre, but the show is officially recommended for ages 16 and older. Most importantly, doors to the theatre open 60 minutes prior to curtain time (as opposed to the typical 30 minutes) to allow for security checks etc.

WHAT TO WEAR
Yes, it’s Springsteen, but it’s also Broadway. While there is no official dress code for the theatre, we encourage theatregoers to spiff it up a bit. If you want to wear your Bruce T-shirt, pair it with a blazer or nice sweater. And avoid hats—you don’t want to block the view of the person behind you.

WHAT TO BRING
Not much. There is no coat check at the theatre, so do not bring large bags or other items that won’t easily fit under your seat. The use of cell phones is not allowed and you will be asked to turn yours completely off upon entering the theatre.

NO INTERMISSION
Springsteen on Broadway runs approximately two hours without an intermission. There are restrooms at the theatre—but note there are often long lines. Refreshments and snacks are also available for purchase at the back of the orchestra and on the mezzanine level.

SEEING BRUCE AT THE STAGE DOOR
JThe Boss’ entrance at the stage door is adjacent to the audience entrance. You may see a crowd standing behind police barricades. Security guards also line the entrance. Springsteen has signed autographs—thought there is no guarantee—and this is also your chance to snap some up-close photos either before or after the show.
